The First China Japan International Academic Exchange Conference was Successfully Held in Hitotsubashi University of Japan

On October 31, 2023, the first China Japan International Academic Exchange Conference was successfully held in Hitotsubashi University of Japan, the theme of this academic exchange conference was “Establishment of Pension Security System with Sustainable Development in China and Japan”, Deputy Dean Yao Lingzhen of our university, Professor Cong Shuhai and Executive Director Liu Xiaochuan of our institute led a group to participate in this international academic exchange conference.

This China Japan International Academic Exchange Conference was jointly organized by the three parties of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Hitotsubashi University and the Japan Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a brief opening ceremony was held before the exchange conference. At the opening ceremony, Dean Satoshi Nakano of Hitotsubashi University made a speech first, he expressed his welcome and was glad that we can get together at Hitotsubashi University, there’s a long history of cooperation between Hitotsubashi University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the Japan Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the elderly care issue in China and Japan that is focused at this exchange conference is also an issue that both countries care very much abut and urgently needs to be solved or improved, he hoped that this form of cooperation can continue for the long run, and form a brand project of three-party cooperation. Next, Deputy Dean Yao Lingzhen of our university made a speech, she indicated that she was thankful for the invitation made by Hitotsubashi University, which made a good beginning for the three parties to cooperate and hold China Japan Academic Exchange Conference. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Hitotsubashi University have a long history of cooperation in the forms of teaching & studying, scientific research and mutual visits of teachers and students, the cooperation in holding China Japan Academic Exchange Conference at this time provides more means of cooperation between the two parties, the focus of elderly care issue is also a topic that both countries pay high attention to, she hoped that the scholars from three parties at this academic exchange conference could collide into new ideas. Next, Deputy Director Yan Kun of the Japan Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made a speech, she indicated that the form of holding academic exchange conference through cooperation among three parties is very good, holding it annually in rotation could establish a good platform of exchanges, she also wished this academic exchange conference a success. Lastly at the opening ceremony, Dean Satoshi Nakano, Deputy Dean Yao Lingzhen and Deputy Director Yan Kun signed a cooperation agreement for jointly organizing international academic exchange conferences on behalf of the three parties, and took a group photo.

After the opening ceremony, the exchange conference officially began, Professor Cong Shuhai and Professor Yang Cuiying from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Professor Oshio Takashi and Professor Shinji Yamashige from Hitotsubashi University as well as Director Zhang Jianli and Deputy Director Guo Pei of the Japan Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences respectively made keynote speeches over the issues of social security system, pension security system, nursing insurance system, aging population issue, home care issue, hospital elderly care system and home-based elderly care issue, etc. in China and Japan, as well as made in-depth exchanges and interactions with the experts attending this conference. 

During this academic exchange conference, leaders of the three parties also had a meeting, which mainly discussed about the holding unit, time and theme of the next China Japan Academic Exchange Conference.
